As many of you know, the Troop’s Philmont Trek that was scheduled to begin on June 27 has been canceled, and a number of other non-Scout camps and plans have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. As of May 1, the Summit has canceled its June programs, but the July and August programs are still scheduled to occur. The Troop’s New River Trek is scheduled for July 4 – July 11, and one spot remains available. The cost is $1,150. The two boat crews are scheduled to leave Atlanta early in the morning on July 4 and return around 6pm on July 11.
If a Scout is interested in attending the New River Trek in July, please email John Buehner (jebuehnersr@comcast.net) by 9:00 pm on Wednesday, May 13. If there are two or more interested Scouts, a lottery will be held to select the lucky Scout and to establish a waitlist in case there are any cancellations. For those Scouts who are currently signed up for Philmont and are awaiting a decision on whether a July Philmont Trek will be available, you may sign-up for the lottery, and your spot will be held until a decision is made on the possible 2020 Philmont replacement trip.
