Lawhorn Scouting Base518 Thundering Springs RdMolena, GA 30258Elkins CampsiteDEPARTURE TIME:Saturday, May 1, 2021, 7.00 am - St. James Activities BuildingRETURN TIME:Sunday, May 2, 2021, 1:00 pm - St. James Activities Building Scouts are required to travel in Class A uniforms DESCRIPTION :The troop will take a guided canoe trip down a section of Flint River Saturday morning. We will be camping at the Elkins campsite at Gerald D. Lawhorn Scouting Base.Canoeing: Bring appropriate clothes for a Boy Scout water related activity (i.e "closed toed" shoes/sandals only (no-flipflops), shorts, shirt, sun protection, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, towel, etc.). We will board a bus and take a short drive upriver to the Flat Shoals put-in and paddle down river arriving back at the scout base.GEAR: Please contact the Troop Quartermaster should you need to borrower Troop camping gear.HEALTH FORM:All participants (Scouts & Adults) on this campout are REQUIRED to have a complete health form on file, including Parts A, B1 & B2, and a copy of the front and back of the health insurance cardCOVID 19 Statement - We want to keep our Scouting family healthy and do our best to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. We will be following the guidance of the CDC and the GA Dept. of Health. We ask the following: Prior to departure, make sure you have no signs or symptoms of illness and have not been around anyone who is ill for at least 14 days.Remember the "Three W's" - WASH (or sanitize) hands frequently, WEAR your mask, and WATCH your distance (at least 6 feet apart).We will be wearing masks when social distancing is not possible. Please bring your own mask and expect to wear it.SPECIAL COVID NOTE: There is a short bus ride to the river put-in location in which we will not have the opportunity to social distance. However, masks will be required.TRANSPORTATION:We will meet at the church on Saturday morning to gather gear & take roll.The troop is NOT able to offer/coordinate carpool transportation during the pandemic. Each Scout will need to arrange its own transportation.Scouts from Troop 370 should always travel in Class A uniformsMEALS :All meals will be planned at the Wednesday campout planning meeting using the patrol method.Patrols will plan for lunch & dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. Each patrol will be required to prepare one meal using a Dutch oven.The Troop may stop for lunch on Sunday, so please remember to bring money.ADULT PARTICIPATION:We need adults to attend this campout and help lead ability groups, camp setup & meal preparation.Adults must be current with Youth Protection certification.
