For the past three years, Troop 370 has volunteered with Paces Ferry United Methodist Church to run a flag ceremony and lay wreaths on veterans graves as part of the Wreaths Across America Event.
This year, National Wreaths Across America Day will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023. Across the nation, two million wreaths will be placed at ceremonies held at 4,000 locations in all 50 states. Our St. James Troops and Pack scouts will be gathering at Paces Ferry UMC at 11:30 am. The brief ceremony and laying of wreaths will last no more than an hour and we will be done by 1:00. This is an honor to be asked to participate for such a great event. This event will
Paces Ferry United Methodist Church is one of the oldest churches in the Atlanta Area. Located at 3612 Paces Ferry Road and built around 1890, the church has been in continuous operation since. It was also the home of Pleasant Hill Academy which operated at the church site in the 1890's. The iconic Post Oak tree in front of Paces Ferry United Methodist Church has been confirmed as one of the oldest trees in the Atlanta area, dating to 1730.
We would love to have as many scouts as possible join us on Saturday morning. This is an awesome event that honors our nation’s veterans and also reflects well on our Troop and scouting in general. Get credit for a scouting event and earn some service hours!
