We will depart from the Deep Creek Trailhead located in the Deep Creek Campground, Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Three backcountry campsites have been reserved which will accommodate 30 campers. We will divide into 3 ability groups; a beginner level group hike to campsite 60 (3 miles of easy/moderate terrain) and can accommodate 14 campers, an intermediate level group will hike 5 miles to campsite 59 and can accommodate 8 campers, and an experienced level group will hike 6 miles to campsite 58 and can accommodate 8 campers.

This is a traditional backpacking campout and appropriate gear is necessary. There will be no base camp option.

Patrols will divide into ability groups based on skill level and the number of scouts and adults who participate.

*Hiking boots are strongly recommended.

*Backpacks and backpacking tents are required. Please contact the Troop Quartermaster should you need to borrower Troop gear.

*Scouts should plan to carry ALL gear and food inside a backpack. Pack It In / Pack It Out. Make sure to leave room in your backpack for food and cookware that will be distributed the morning of departure.

We need 8-10 adults to attend this campout and help lead ability groups, camp setup, meal prep & drive.

Each camping group and campsite must have 2 deep leadership.
